Things That Go Brilliantly with Books

As the rush of daily life resumes after the holidays, we need to remember to schedule in some down-time. And you know what down-time can mean – books. So here are lots of things that go brilliantly with books, for every season.

Let’s start with winter, as that’s where we are now.

The Sofa

Have to start with this. Curling up on the sofa with a book? Perfect for cold days.

Snow

Even though to many of us this can only be a dream, books go with snow amazingly. A perfect snow day includes reading a book after a long walk and snow fight, plus…

Hot Chocolate!

Or any other hot drink that portrays cosiness. Bonus points for marshmallows and whipped cream.

Pets

Whether it’s reading next to your fish tank or curling up with your cat, pets and books seem like natural friends. Unless your dog loves ripping them up or your horse just munches on them.

Early Mornings

There’s just something that makes mornings so special. The sun streaming in or the quietness – who knows, but

Flowers

This ones flexible. Pressed flowers as a bookmark or a fresh vase nearby; they not only brighten up a room, but your reading!

Summer

Hammocks

One thing you should always own, and look for in holiday homes, are hammocks. Swaying under the sun on a warm day is what adds that extra oomph to a great holiday.

Swings

Swing, swing and swing till your legs get tired and more while reading books. Wherever you are, however old you are, you’ve got to try this one.

Pools

Whether paddling pool or a big one, these go brilliantly with sunny days. Imagine: relaxing on a float with a book or chilling under the trees in a shallow pool – bliss.

Autumn

Blankets & Throws

What will it be? Chunky knit, fluffy or woven; all of these are anyone’s dream.

Muffins

Just delicious. No matter what flavour you prefer, stock up on some home-made ones now.

Long Walks

You could wander about with a book (just don’t bump into a tree!) and although that sounds nice if it’s not near roads, that’s not what I’m thinking about for this one. When you get home after a long walk, you have that nice feeling in your legs, and if it’s chilly, sitting down to read for a bit just feels right.

And back again…

Conclusion

Every season, come back here and try these for some relaxation that can’t be beaten. These things, you will find, go brilliantly with books. One more thing is family and friends, which goes with all seasons, and can’t be underestimated. On the other hand, solo reading is also a dream. Either way, have fun!

Before You Go…

Here a cute hamster is nibbling on his food, which goes well with the pets section in the spring area. Adorable!
